Gigabit in-car internet

Qualcomm is not only a manufacturer of smartphone processors, but also LTE modems are mobile devices. The company is working on a special version of one of the latest models of such modems for cars. This product will allow you to download data at 1 Gbps.

Modern cars can not do without internet access. It serves not only for driver and passenger communications, but also for downloading new onboard navigation systems, software updates, as well as providing entertainment in the form of multimedia access.

Qualcomm has just announced that the latest version of the X16 LTE will soon be rolling out to passenger cars. This is a modern communications system that is able to connect up to 10 LTE data streams from different operators. In other words, it can retrieve data through several different channels, managing them in an intelligent way, which greatly increases the transfer speed.

In this case, it can even be up to 1 Gbsp, so the download time for new maps for the navigation system will be significantly reduced. There will also be no problems with using, for example, Netflix, to make long journeys easier.

The new invention protects against implant recoil

Researchers at the University of Colorado have developed a new type of titanium coating that will work in medicine. Their invention greatly reduces the risk of rejection of implants.

The human body consumes itself over time, just like any mechanism, and then some of its elements need to be replaced. Some of them, such as the hip or knee joint, can be replaced with implant materials made of different materials.

Unfortunately, the body sometimes does not tolerate the foreign body in it, and such an implant is discarded, giving rise to many problems for both the patient and the doctor. The latest state of the art research from Colorado State University, however, may help to avoid them. They created a special titanium coating to cover the thin layer of the implant surface.

The coating acts as a barrier separating metal from organic tissue, blocking any contact between them. In this way, it deceives the body that the implant is an integral part of the implant, not a foreign element, thus preventing its rejection.

Five teens accused of breaking into the telecom

At the end of October, a cyberatak took place at the British telecommunications company TalkTalk. A few days later the police made their first arrests, and now stopped the last member of the group responsible for the crime. It turned out that it was a total of five teenagers.

On October 23 of this year, hacking took place on the computer network of the British telecommunications operator TalkTalk, where stolen data of its customers, including names, phone numbers, email addresses and bank account numbers. Shortly thereafter, the company received a ransom claim in exchange for abandoning the disclosure of this data on the network.

Initially it was not known how many of the 4 million customer data was stolen. After two weeks, the investigation found that there were just over 156,000 and less than 16,000 bank account numbers.

The police were lucky enough to catch up with the hackers and after a few days had the first offenders behind the bars. Masked gun is the perfect weapon for terrorists

Ideal Conceal is the name of a peculiar pistol that has just hit the US market. Weapons are of great concern for uniformed services because they are designed in such a way that it resembles … smartphone housing.

A few years ago, an iPhone case appeared that looked like a pistol. They were made in the same color as the handgun, and additionally equipped with a flask. Producers of this gadget were primarily to scare off potential criminals, but it soon turned out that the product was a serious problem. Out of pocket pockets of gunpowder, a policeman can take a real gun and shoot the holder of such a case.

After several dangerous incidents involving users of this housing, it was decided to withdraw it from the market. The idea, however, was picked up by gun manufacturers and they decided to use it to create the Ideal Conceal gun.

Weapons that enter the US market this week and are available for around $ 400 are causing great concern for the authorities. It has been designed to resemble a smartphone casing. The authorities fear that it can easily be smuggled outside the country, as at first sight it can actually be taken for a phone call, and these customs officers do not check.

Especially worried are the European authorities in countries where terrorist attacks are more and more frequent. For this reason, the service in Belgium has already been put on hold, as the authorities are concerned that such weapons may soon appear in the country.

The Minnesota company that produced Ideal Conceal thinks it is a great idea, as it provides a surprise element, which makes it easier to defeat a criminal who attacks the owner.

Network server will overheat

Computer owners know that modern PCs emit a lot of heat. Even more heat is generated by professional network servers that are equipped with a large number of processors and drives and need to work around the clock. German company Cloud & Heat has decided to use this to offer a new way of heating apartments.

Cloud & Heat is a cloud service provider, and therefore has a large number of servers running its business. However, their cooling is very expensive, so it was considered that the heat generated by them to heat the apartments would be more effective.

The company proposes to everyone willing to put such a server in their home, where he will do a typical heater. The customer only has to pay for a fire resistant rack and this is comparable to the price of a standard heating system. Cloud & Heat pays for the cost of internet connection and electricity, and the user enjoys free heating and hot water instead.

Interestingly, when you do not need so much heat, it will be stored in a special tank so that you can use it later. Besides this spring and summer the server will be air cooled from the outside, so on hot days we will not heat the apartment.

And what about data security? Cloud & Heat thought this too, so all the data is encrypted, and the server cabinet can only open the company employee.

In New York, the first passive building is built

Every resident of the block knows that the biggest expenses are incurred for electricity, heating and hot water. In New York, so is the first passive building called Perch, which thanks to the appropriate construction will allow residents to save a lot of money.

The construction is erected near Hamilton Heights and will be ready for use as early as May this year. This is the first passive building to be built in New York City, and if the experiment goes well, probably not the only one.

Perch has been designed from the ground up to meet the requirements of a passive house. As engineers provide, it consumes about 80-90% less electricity than a traditional building, and in no way limits its usability.

There is a 20 cm thick wall insulation that lowers the fluctuation of the temperature and reduces the amount of energy needed to warm the rooms. Window glass has been specially adapted to the climate of the region and the level of insolation. In addition, the windows are positioned so that they can get as much sunlight as possible. In contrast, the heat generated by the air conditioning system serves to heat water.

Obviously, every resident has the full ability to regulate the climate individually, so it does not have to be limited at all, and yet his energy bills should be much lower compared to the residents of standard buildings.
